At the 2024 Rooted in Progress Summit, Michigan potato growers came together around a common vision. The primary emphasis includes:

  • Safeguard the research that got us here;
  • Invest in next-generation tools and facilities; and
  • Focus research on real-world grower needs.

But with key researchers approaching retirement and infrastructure needing reinvestment, the time to act is now.

That’s why Potato Growers of Michigan, Inc. (PGMI) is leading the creation of a donor-advised fund focused solely on Michigan potato research and advancement.

The Michigan Potato Legacy Fund

A flexible, grower-led donor-advised fund designed to:

  • Protect intellectual property developed by Michigan State University and partners;
  • Invest in real-world research infrastructure; and
  • Fund practical, problem-solving studies that help growers now and in the future.

Administered through a trusted community foundation, this fund offers:

  • Tax-deductible giving;
  • Minimal administrative costs; and
  • Grower-led decisions.

With fewer administrative burdens and full donor flexibility, your gift directly supports Michigan potatoes.
